Confined Space Entry Half Day (CS)
A confined space is an enclosed or partially enclosed area not designed or intended primarily to be occupied by a person, such as a tank, vessel, silo, manhole or ductwork. To enter a confined space and perform work safely, you need to hold a current confined space qualification.

Course Description
This training covers the skills and knowledge required to enter and work in confined spaces and to test the working atmosphere, using electronic test apparatus, to find out if it is safe for the proposed work within the resources and infrastructure industries.
On completion of this half day course, to demonstrate competency participants will:
- Plan and prepare for working in confined spaces;
- Complete documents and records relevant to confined space work;
- Learn about the legislative requirements for entering and working in confined spaces;
- Apply and remove tagging and lock out
- Enter & exit the confined space according to workplace procedures
- Use atmospheric monitoring devices during confined space activity
- Inspect and identify problems with monitoring equipment
Course Duration
Course duration is half day (approximately 4 hours). Start time is 8.00am – Finish time is 12.00pm

Course Requirements
- Photo ID must be presented i.e. current drivers license or passport
Please ensure your attire is safe and suitable for a training environment. This includes closed-toe shoes and no singlets.
- Basic English language, literacy and numeracy skills required; to read, complete, interpret and communicate workplace documents and procedures and perform basic calculations.
- Students are required to competently complete an LLN assessment
Entry Requirements
Students are required to have the physical ability to successfully complete the practical aspects of entering and working in confined spaces and associated tasks. These may include, but are not limited to climbing ladders whilst maintaining three points of contact, donning and wearing a full body harness and being suspended in full body harness, entering and working in a confined space and manual handling.
Course Outcome
On successful completion, QPTS will issue students with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework for the following units of competency
- RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces
- MSMWHS217 Gas Test Atmospheres
In addition to the SOA, a Wallet Card displaying the competent units will be issued.
