Also known as Construction Induction Training, this course meets WorkSafe WA regulations and is delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Course Duration
6hrs (Face to Face delivery) Course duration is a full day (6 hours). Start time is 8.00am – Finish time is 2.00pm.
Course entry requirements for all participants
- Be at least 15 years of age
- Have access to valid ID – both primary & secondary ID required – Please note that arriving without this ID will result in you being turned away from the course
- Have at least a Year 8 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills
- Have the ability to read and write English
- Please ensure your attire is safe and suitable for a training environment. This includes closed-toe shoes and no singlets.
Please note: As per the Western Australian Department of Mines, Industry Regulations and Safety (DMIRS) requirements, WorkSafe Construction Induction Training (CIT) cards (White Cards) can only be issued to learners who are physically located in Western Australia at the time of their assessment.
ID Requirements for White Card – WorkSafe requires that all licence applications are accompanied by two forms of identity documents, one type of primary identification and one type of secondary identification. Proof of identity requires two forms of identification one from each side of the table below.
Primary Identification:
- An Australian passport (expired no more than two years)
- An original birth certificate or a certified copy
- A photographic driver’s licence issued by any Australian licensing authority
- A current overseas passport
- An Australian citizenship or naturalisation document or immigration
- A valid High Risk Work Licence
Secondary Identification:
- A current entitlement card issued by a Commonwealth Government department (for example, a Medicare card or a Pension card)
- A current credit card or ATM access card issued by a financial
- A passbook or account statement from a bank, or credit union not more than 12 months old
- A telephone, gas or electricity account not more than 12 months
- A water or local rate notice or land valuation notice not more than two years old
Course Outcome
Upon successful completion of this CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment and an official WorkSafe WA White Card. This certification is nationally recognised and is a mandatory requirement for workers entering the construction industry in Australia. The Construction White Card Course is a mandatory requirement for anyone entering or currently working in the construction industry across Western Australia. Course Outline/Overview
This White Card training focuses on building your knowledge and confidence in key areas of workplace safety:
- Understanding the definition of construction work
- Overview of OHS/WHS legislative frameworks
- Identification of hazards and risks, and implementation of control measures
- Effective communication and consultation processes
- Learning essential construction industry terminology
- Recognising and interpreting workplace safety signage
- Managing accidents, incidents, and emergency responses
- Promoting overall site safety practices

This is a 6-hour, face-to-face course that runs over a single day.
